Pottery Hand-Building Workshop
With Ben Saunders
Thursday 26th November | 6pm - 8pm
Get creative with clay in this hands-on pottery workshop led by artist Ben Saunders. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience working with clay, you’ll learn new skills, explore your creativity and make a ceramic piece of your own.
Ben will guide you through the fundamentals of hand-building with clay, offering step-by-step support as you bring your ideas to life. Make anything from cups, dishes and festive decorations to sculptures, wall hangings and functional pieces. You’re also welcome to bring along your own ideas, and Ben will help you explore how to turn them into reality.
Once your creations are complete, you’ll choose a glaze colour for each piece. Your work will then be taken away to be glazed and fired in the kiln, ready for you to collect from Manchester Craft and Design Centre. Prefer to have your pieces delivered? UK postage is available for £6 (standard small parcel).
Your ticket includes:
- All tools, equipment and materials
- Expert guidance from artist Ben Saunders throughout the workshop
- Glazing and kiln firing of your ceramic creations
Come along, get your hands dirty and discover what you can create with clay!

Through all his work, Ben aims to create a space for trans people to feel safe to embrace their body and sexuality, without fear of judgement, which so many within the community face.
Alongside his creative work, Ben also facilitates and organises workshops and events for the queer community, such as curated art exhibitions, community performance nights, queer life drawing and ceramic workshops. Building community is at the heart of all of Ben’s work as both an artist and facilitator.
