Valé et Oli

Valé et Oli is a joint venture between Valery Touchet & Olive Youmbi.

Valery Touchet is a sustainable fashion designer and community project leader, under VTCreation. Inspired by nature, Valery is an advocate for working with natural materials, textures and colours and runs workshops on sustainable fashion and upcycling.

Valery was part of Hands On 2023; our programme of support to help launch the careers of three makers who identify as underrepresented in Craft. Valery’s textile creations include shibori scarves, fashionwear, artwork, cushion covers, hair scrunchies and zipper pouches.

Valery also runs workshops, helping the community to understand more about sustainable fashion and how easy it is to upcycle.

Olive Youmbi received our University of Bolton graduate award in 2023 and held a successful pop-up at Manchester Craft and Design Centre in September last year.

Olive designs beautiful, colourful handmade fabrics, based on the cultural references of African wax print. She then creates scarves, framed pieces, accessories and homewares, taking apart her fabrics and, using patchwork and quilting techniques building them back together into practical, beautiful items for everyday use.
