Imprints of Earth

Discover unique ceramics to embrace your inner bohemian. At Imprints of Earth the mission is simple; to create one-off pieces which celebrate the beauty found in the imperfect, and bring a little spirit to your surroundings.

Mother-daughter duo Bhaggie and Shakti are ceramicists who are passionate about creativity as a healing force. Ceramics has given them the time and space to express and rediscover themselves artistically, to be mindful, and to find joy again after a significant personal loss.

Bhaggie was one of Manchester Craft and Design Centre’s “Hands On” Bursary winners and exhibitors. The duo love to hand-build and throw advanced carefully considered forms before relinquishing them to the uninhibited flames of the fire. In this way, ceramics becomes a metaphor for life, recognising when to let go and finding beauty in the ashes of the unexpected.

Their work exposes the chaos of human emotions, juxtaposing raw organic pit fired and Raku work with playfully glazed, spirited pieces. In recognition of their innovative fledgling ceramic practice, the duo have been recognised in notable exhibitions with the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, Thrown Contemporary, HOME, Manchester Art Gallery as well as the Hospitality Industry Exhibition in partnership with EGE Carpets.

Join Bhaggie and Shakti on this adventure of contradiction, as they rise from the ashes of this beautifully messy, occasionally painful yet always immensely joy-filled journey we call life.
