On the Wire: The 12 Days of Christmas

Manchester Craft & Design Centre is currently playing host to four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree!

Created by resident paper artist, Kate Kelly of Kaper, the colourful menagerie have made their home in five giant gold rings which have been suspended from a wire below the Centre’s iconic Victorian glass roof.

The birds and foliage all started as a doodle in Kate’s sketchbook and then each individual leaf, flower, feather and beak was printed, cut, assembled and varnished by hand.

The 12 Days of Christmas will be on display at Manchester Craft & Design Centre until Christmas Eve and Kate’s creations are available to purchase from Studio 9 all year round.
