Be a Chancer: Darts Tournament at MCDC

BY Manchester Craft and Design Centre

Thursday 25th May, 6-8pm

Join us for the launch of Athletically Pleasing on Thursday 25th May when we’ll be holding an open darts competition unlike any other.

The darts  – which are featured in the exhibition – are handmade; crafted beautifully with a beech barrel, brightly coloured paper flights and a brilliantly sharp tungsten nib. The darts are the result of a collaboration between designer-maker Joe Hartley and illustrator and printmaker Rob Bailey.

Concertina Dart BoardAlso on display will be a dartboard with a concertina book back which will bear are the scars and holes from every missed shot, recording the evening through small punctures in the paper.

With a first prize of a £20 voucher to spend in any studio or Oak Street Cafe Bar, this opportunity is not to be missed. Get the chance to hold and throw one of these handcrafted darts and see how your throw shapes up to everyone else’s!

The evening will be soundtracked by the wonderful vinyl collection of our Resident DJ Ailsa McLaggan, of Living Room Dance Club, to get you boogying while you wait for your turn and we’ll have drinks available to keep you refreshed throughout the evening.

Athletically Pleasing is a showcase of products exploring how craft, design and technology are being used to enhance athletic performance and aesthetic appeal in sport. Find out more here…
