£110.00 per day (£5,720 total contract)
Manchester Craft and Design Centre (MCAD) offers a unique space for makers to create, present and sell the best of contemporary craft and design to the public and has done since 1982. We are an arts charity located in the former Victorian fish and poultry market in the creative ‘Northern Quarter’ of Manchester city centre. We also offer supporting services to craftspeople and designers by providing workshop/retail accommodation, exhibition opportunities and professional development events. We have recently established a new Community Hub area of the building, designed to welcome our visitors, encourage them to learn about the centre and includes a family friendly activity area and welcome desk.
We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time freelance Volunteer Coordinator to support the development of existing and new volunteers. In addition to coordinating volunteers working with our management team to help deliver MCAD’s work, the Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, train and supervise a new team of volunteers to welcome visitors to the Centre. The job involves ensuring volunteers are fully trained and briefed, encouraging them to engage with our studios and the history of the building, and support them to develop skills and enjoy their volunteering. They will be working with the Age Friendly agenda to provide volunteering opportunities for the over 50s and local residents. We are looking for an exceptional person with great interpersonal skills, a positive outlook and an enthusiasm for volunteering and culture.
You will have an interest in the arts, at least 2 year’s experience of working with volunteers and an understanding of visitor engagement. An organised approach, commitment and resourcefulness will also be essential.
