Hands On – Celebrating Craft in the North West

Hands On is an exhibition of work by three local makers who are part of our inaugural bursary holder project.

Over the last four months, we’ve worked with three talented makers, Bhaggie Patel, EvaD Ould-Okojie and Simon Denton to develop their creative practice and creative businesses.

The three artists, specialising in ceramics, textiles and wood have worked with our team at Manchester Craft and Design Centre as well as experts across the field to develop their creative brands, present their practice and develop new techniques. Throughout the project, the makers have developed experimental works and created innovative pieces that we’re excited to show at Manchester Craft and Design Centre.

Our Hands On bursary was developed in recognition of the need for Manchester Craft and Design Centre to work towards greater inclusivity, create access to opportunities for more makers in Manchester and grow our community.

The exhibition will run from Saturday 11th September until Saturday 13th November and is free to visit.

Celebrating Craft in the North West is part of Make! Craft! Live! – the Craft Council’s nationwide celebration marking its 50th anniversary year. Galleries, festivals and museums across the region, including Manchester Craft and Design Centre, will showcase events and displays to celebrate the sheer brilliance of craft and making. Find out more about the events here.
