Future Makers 2018: From the Studios

Here at Manchester Craft and Design Centre we are passionate about supporting and nurturing new talent and our annual Future Makers exhibition does just that! This year our Resident Makers have selected seven new makers, all with their fantastic work on display in selected studios around MCDC. Each makers work and practice is unique and innovative – allow Future Makers 2018 to guide you around the centre. Discover new emerging talent today!

Future Makers 2018 is running throughout the centre until the 31st March 2018.

 

Amy Quinn

Hosted By Studio Michelle Keeling and Gemma Truman (Studio 26).

Amy’s sculptural glass vessels are blown onto cast formed concrete, inspired by the rugged Icelandic landscape.

Freja Burgess

Freja’s textiles are inspired by the influence that colour has on human emotion. She creates timeless pieces designed to last.

 

 

 

 

 

Rachael Allcoat 

Hosted By Sophie Holt and Alicia Eccleston on behalf of the MCDC management team (Studio 24).

Rachael’s innovative tactile surfaces are created using laser cutting, hand embellishment and disperse dying.

 

 

 

Ralph Shuttleworth

Hosted By Ella McIntosh and Helen Tiffany (Studio 10).

Ralph uses technology to enhance the processes and natural material, playing with colour and form to reveal the inner beauty of the wood.

Scottish designer Lois creates colourful enamel jewellery which celebrates her home and heritage.
