New Year, New Goals!

We love the start of a new year here at Manchester Craft & Design Centre – a whole 12 months of creative ideas, inspiration, learning and experiences just waiting to happen!

We’re already busy plotting and planning to make this a year to remember so we thought we’d share some ideas and tips to get your 2016 off to a flying start…

1. Make a list of your goals

To-do lists, shopping lists, we love a good list! Why not set aside half an hour during this quiet first week of January to make a list of your goals for the year. What would you like to achieve by the end of 2016? It could just be one thing, or maybe several; whatever your goals, writing them down is the first step towards making them a reality.

Stick the list on your fridge or by your desk to serve as a reminder when you need a little motivation over the coming months.

2. Learn something new

New Year is a great time to learn a new skill. Our programme of Creative Business Development Workshops has been designed to help small, creative businesses learn skills that will help them to grow. The first session of 2016 is a financial planning workshop led by Sarah Thelwall of online bookkeeping and financial benchmarking tool, MyCake. Start your year with a new financial plan by booking a place here.

3. Get organised

Our biggest tip for success this year is to plan your week ahead. Find a little time at the start of each week to sit down, look at what you need to do, what you’d like to do, and how much time you have.

Be realistic. Remember to include all of your work and family commitments. And don’t forget to schedule in some time to get away from your desk or workbench to do something that will help keep those creative juices flowing – visit an exhibition, go for a walk in your favourite place, or simply take ten minutes to enjoy a coffee and read a favourite magazine or blog.

So you can get started straight away, we’ve created a free weekly planner for you to download and print.
