SUMMER EXHIBITION 2017: Makers Guild Wales

Summer Show: Myths & Legends 15 July – 27 August 2017

CALL FOR ARTISTS: This year our theme for the Summer Show has been inspired by the national campaign within Wales to celebrate the Year of Legends. We are opening this up to Myths & Legends and hope to attract artists from across the UK to apply to show their work with us.

Selected by a guest panel of art professionals – we have extended our earlier publicised deadline to 31st May 2017. You may already create work inspired by myths and/or legends – but if not then this is a chance to explore the rich source material available! We are asking makers to submit up to three pieces of work. If selected you would then be invited to show one or more of these pieces in the Summer Show.

DEADLINE 31st May 2017

Following successes achieved in 2016, we will be working with a new group of emerging makers in 2017 to present the very best in British craft on the world stage under the banner A Future Made. The Crafts Council and The New Craftsmen with renowned architect and interior designer Natalia Miyar are putting together a proposal to exhibit a body of works by new British talent during Miami Art Week and Design Miami in December this year.

Showcasing interiors-focused work that demonstrates first class making skills, creativity and imagination, this offers a chance for participants to present ambitious pieces and reach a new global audience. We hope to take up to 10 exhibitors’ works to Miami. The selection panel will be looking out for works that make a strong visual impact on their surroundings. The panel is looking for bold, playful, tactile objects which can transform interiors and inspire audiences.
