Description
Do you fancy learning a new skill in 2019? Join our resident ceramicist Katherine Lees to make and decorate your own planter or bottle in this workshop at Manchester Craft & Design Centre.
You will be using porcelain clay with press moulding methods to create either a bottle or a planter, and decorate your pieces using a technique called ‘colour monoprinting’.
This workshop is suitable for beginners – or anyone wanting to create their own unique ceramic piece with Katherine.

FAQs:
Where will the workshop take place?
This workshop will take place in space2, on the ground floor at Manchester Craft & Design Centre (MCDC). The workshop room is fully accessible.
MCDC is in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, around 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly rail station, or the Arndale/ Market Street shopping district. For more information about MCDC and how to find us, visit our website.
What is included in the ticket price?
This small group workshop includes all of your materials, tuition, firing, packaging, and light refreshments. You will create a unique ceramic piece.
We’ll have a lunch break during the day, although lunch will not be provided. You are welcome to bring your own or join us at our lovely onsite eatery, Oak Street Café (who create a changing daily menu with lots of vegan and gluten free options).
Can I take my ceramic piece/s away on the day?
No – clay pieces will need to be fired in a kiln after the workshop, which Katherine will do in her studio. We will contact you to let you know when it’s ready to collect – we estimate this will be in around 4 weeks time. We can post your piece(s) to you if you would rather for around £8 (payable at the workshop).
I have an MCDC voucher – can I use it for this workshop?
Yes – you can pay for this workshop with your voucher – please contact us directly by emailing exhibitions@craftanddesign.com or calling 0161 832 4274.
I have more questions!
For any other enquiries, please contact Kaylee by email or call 0161 832 4274.
