NORTHERN QUARTER AFTER DARK : May 15, 2014.
NQ After Dark -Matt Pyke @ The Football Museum
As part of this year’s Museums At Night, the National Football Museum will host media artist Matt Pyke for one evening only, whose digital agency Universal Everything are creating a giant sculptural projection that will react to the voices and sounds made by our visitors.
Visitors will be invited to speak, shout, sing or whisper into a microphone and the video sculpture will transform, recolour and react – the stronger the chant the bigger the reward. Groups of football fans are welcome to come along and see how their favourite terrace chants translate into visual art.
The opportunity to host this exclusive “living, breathing” sculpture comes as a result of winning a national competition Museums at Night competition where the museum secured over 1600 individual votes.
This fun event is accessible for all of the family and is a feature of the Manchester After Hours programme taking place at venues across the city on the evening.
