Coming up at MCDC

Christmas

Experience a more relaxed festive experience this year inside one of Manchester’s original market buildings. There’s something for everyone with events, workshops, live music, crafts for kids and the chance to buy perfect presents direct from the makers. Find out more here…

Exhibitions

Our 2017-18 exhibition programme is shaping up nicely with four new shows planned for the coming year, starting with Glaswegian designer-maker Kate Colin and The Art of the Fold. Launching on November 23, the exhibition explores how colour, tonal variations, shadow and geometric form interact in a folded paper lighting installation. Find out more here…

We’ll be following that up in February 2018 with our 2017 MMU Graduate Award winners, glass blower Jahday Ford and digital designer Joseph Hillary. Their collaborative project Breathe brings together the two worlds of glass and digital design to create work that pushes the material boundaries of glass using innovative techniques. Talks & Tours

Our Craft Unravelled series of talks and tours take place on the last Tuesday of every month at 1:30pm. Take a tour of our former fishmarket building and learn some interesting facts about our history. Join our curator for a tour of our current exhibition and hear about the artists and the inspirations behind their work. Or go behind the scenes in one of studios, meet a resident maker and find out what it’s like to have a studio here at MCDC. Check out the 2017-18 schedule here…
