Bolton University Graduate Showcase extended

Here at Manchester Craft & Design Centre we are passionate about supporting new graduates. Currently, we have two University of Bolton Textiles & Surface Design graduates- Carys Lavin and Tiffany Maksymow- exhibiting in space2. Their three-day showcase was initially supposed to end tomorrow but due to popularity we have decided to extend their exhibition until Tuesday 19th September.
After their successful first day of exhibiting at the centre we could not be happier with what they have achieved. Not only have they showcased work which they exhibited at The University of Bolton Creative Show earlier this year, they have also worked on a collaboration which is beautifully hung from the ceiling of space2.
Tiffany’s work is a visual representation of personal emotion; it is a project about personal struggles, emotions and the inherent way, as humans, we find life within light.
Carys is fascinated with the idea of memories and how we remember things as memories fade and change. Using laser cutting and weaving techniques, she tells a story of how memories fall away but can be reconstructed differently.
Carys Lavin: “We’ve had a lovely time getting the exhibition together and both really enjoyed the launch night. Particularly chatting to people and getting feedback about our work, it was great to hear different opinions and some complimentary feedback. We’re really grateful for the opportunity to display our work and feel like we’ve both learnt so much from this experience and from working together.“
Their intricate collections are well worth a visit, it is always lovely to see new graduates recognised for their talent.
