Originally from Cumbria, Liz Evans graduated in 2005 from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Since then she has focused her attention on painting and became a tenant at Manchester Craft & Design Centre in June 2006. Her final year at University was devoted to writing and illustrating a children's picture book which is now available to buy, and she enjoys dividing her time between painting, children's illustration and occasional freelance graphic/web design.
She began to work under the name 'Lily Greenwood' due to there already being an established writer called Liz Evans. Greenwood was her great-grandmother's maiden name.
Liz is greatly inspired by 18th and 19th century Japanese artists and printmakers such as Utagawa Hiroshige and Katushika Hokusai, and subject matter is usually related to a love of nature, in particular birds, flowers and butterflies.
