On The Wire: Re-silicone by Lucy Fergus

10th January - 3rd March 2012

Lucy describes her practice as the design and production of bespoke eco-conscious installation artworks, made from re-used rubber silicone. Her work highlights the industrial waste in manufacturing today, and its effects on the environment. The iconic British hairbrush manufacturer, Mason Pearson, donate unwanted hairbrush inserts to Lucy, as part of their continued support for the artist.

The Re-silicone installation is the latest of Lucys site-specific projects. Recent work has featured in the Unite for CraftScotland installations, Elephant Parade London 2010, and the COLLECT Trail at Duke of York square for the Crafts Council.

After studying at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Lucy called Cockpit Arts, London, home for many years, before moving back to her native Glasgow. She now works from the Hidden Lane Studios, Glasgow.
