GIVE IT A BASH on a Pewter Rolling Mill Workshop to make your own mini planter or pen pot. Using Pewter sheets as well as traditional metalwork skills Ella will guide you through the entire process, from design to the finishing of your own piece, so you can take home a mini planter or pot as well as tips on how to continue at home for budding Pewterers.
Using the rolling mill equipment to add embellishment and texture decoration to the metal, you can experiment with shape, layering and pattern to create a unique design before moving onto forming your vessel, soldering joins and using a variety of finishing techniques to complete your design. This workshop involves a lot of skills in one day and is great for makers wishing to try a new media as well as making novices.
Lead-free Pewter is a malleable metal which lends itself to texture being applied. Ella is a Pewter enthusiast based here at Manchester Craft & Design Centre in studio 10 and welcomes any questions about the workshop.
Please note that lunch is not provided. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch, explore the many local eateries in the Northern Quarter, or join us at the lovely Oak St. Cafe Bar on-site.
