Name of Business:
Creating handmade greeting cards and fine art prints featuring my designs.
What are the things that have inspired, and continue to inspire, your work?:
I have a passion for colour, pattern and flowers. I love creating bright, bold artwork and over the last twelve years my name has become synonymous with commercial, colourful imagery.
What is the most memorable (positive) reaction you have had from a person about your work?
I once worked with a publisher that produced a magazine called “Kate Knight’s Handmade Cards”; this included 72 card projects based on my designs. I received dozens of emails from people throughout the world complimenting me on my artwork.
When you are not producing new work, what do you like to spend your time doing and why?
I like to keep fit, so I enjoy a Pilates class, or doing my Saturday morning Parkrun in Heaton Park.
If you were asked to describe the experience of visiting Manchester Craft & Design Centre to someone who has yet to come along, what would you tell them?
The centre is a unique building. It is filled with lots of tremendous artists producing craftwork of the highest quality. It’s a joy to visit in the centre of Manchester’s popular Northern Quarter, an area renowned for its creative environment. It has an eclectic mix of design studios and a very popular café. Manchester Craft and Design Centre is one of the city’s crown jewels.
